• We are developing a peer-support programme for mums who are young or live in disadvantaged areas to help them breastfeed for longer.
  • Breastfeeding peer-supporters are mothers who have experience of breastfeeding and are able to support other local mothers.
  • Our peer-supporters will be given training in using a Motivational Interviewing (MI) based approach. This will help them support mums in exploring their thoughts and concerns about breastfeeding and support them in setting their own goals.
  • We will be working with parents, peer-supporters, and health professionals to design this MI based peer-support intervention.
  • We will then test whether it is possible to deliver the intervention in three areas in Wales and England. For further information, please click on one of the links below.
